 Postdoctoral appointments:

• provide the holder of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate with additional research and scholarly training for an academic or research career.
• a component of the University’s educational mission
• Thus, the role of postdoctoral fellows is clearly differentiated from full-time technical employees
