Postdoctoral Lunch Discussions

The Office of Faculty Development and the Office of Graduate Studies sponsor a series of monthly lunches for Rice Postdoctoral scholars. Focused on supporting their career path, these lunches cover a variety of issues having to do with both professional development and work/life balance. These discussions are open to all University Postdoctoral Scholars.

For your convenience we have assembled a Google Calendar of the events offered by Rice, Baylor, and UTHSC.

NSF ADVANCE Program: Negotiating the Ideal Faculty Position Workshop

For the past 6 years, Rice hosted the Negotiating the Ideal Faculty Position workshop, a workshop for underrepresented postdoctoral scholars & late stage PhD students in Science, Engineering & Psychology.  This workshop provided a unique opportunity for those selected to attend  to learn from faculty leaders.

Part of the application process is the option to be included in Rice University's NSF ADVANCE Program's National Database of Underrepresented PhD students and Postdocs. This database is a way for underrepresented PhDs and Postdocs to have their application information accessible not only to Rice University departments, but to other institutions nationally and internationally who have active faculty searches.

This program has now become the Future Faculty Workshop which was held with its new title in Fall, 2012. The national workshop has been postponed this academic year, the Rice-only Workshop will be held in November. Below are the resources from previous workshops:
