Dinora is a rising 2nd year graduate student currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Rice University. Prior to coming to Rice, she received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics from the University of St. Thomas-Houston in 2022. She is a Houston native and is also a first-generation Salvadoran-American and college graduate. While at UST, she worked on gold nanoparticle synthesis. Now at Rice, her focus has shifted to working on main group/organometallic chemistry in the Yruegas group in the Chemistry department. Feel free to reach out if have any questions about being in a brand new lab, chemistry, or Rice in general!

Fun Fact:

I have three parrotlets named Zuko, Kiki, and Choco (along with 10 other parakeets).

Favorite thing about Rice:

The people!! Everyone here is unique and are incredibly friendly.

Favorite thing about Houston:

Everything! The diversity, the trees, the museums, etc. (I may be biased because I was born here)

Why did you decide to go to grad school?

I chose to go to grad school because I love learning and chemistry is the field I was primarily interested in. Now I am learning a whole lot about chemistry and getting my hands dirty with really cool lab work!
