The GPS Pathways Program was established in 2022 by Dean Seiichi Matsuda in the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Currently in its pilot year, the program brings together a diverse group of first-year doctoral students to provide an extended orientation to Rice University, its resources, and the Houston area.
Scholars meet regularly over the course of the academic year and participate in a number of activities, from social events to group lunches, to meetings with university administrators and key offices. They are assigned to a small group led by GPS Pathways Mentors, a group of senior graduate students that offer support and guidance throughout the duration of the program.
