With a strong background in social sciences and policy research, he is passionate about international relations, security, and diplomacy. Before coming to Rice, he worked as a Senior Research Associate in a think tank and consultancy firm.

At Rice, Nathaniel serves as the Founder and President of Rice Pinoy Graduates, a student organization dedicated to fostering community and cultural awareness among Filipino graduate students. He is also a Graduate Student Ambassador for the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and a Gallery Guide at the Moody Center for the Arts. Nathaniel is actively working to strengthen the connection between Rice University and the Filipino community, aiming to increase Filipino representation at Rice.

Fun fact about me:

I enjoy calisthenics and can do some muscle-ups!

Favorite thing about Rice:

The campus, the people, and the resources available (sorry, I can't pick just one; there are too many things I love about Rice!)

Favorite thing about Houston:

My favorite thing about Houston is its diversity! The city is a melting pot of cultures, bringing together people, FOOD, and perspectives from all over the world.

Why I decided to go to grad school:

I decided to go to grad school because I wanted to deepen my expertise in global affairs and strengthen my ability to contribute to Philippine foreign policy and security. Coming from a background in social sciences and policy research, I knew that pursuing a master's at Rice would give me the analytical tools, network, and academic rigor needed to make a real impact.
