Graduate program administrators are the quiet engine that keeps Rice University’s graduate enterprise running smoothly. From guiding prospective students through admissions to supporting current scholars as they navigate coursework, research milestones and graduation requirements, these staff members are often the first and most consistent point of contact for graduate students throughout their academic journey.

To recognize their exceptional dedication, the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies recently hosted a Thanksgiving brunch organized by Elizabeth Tippee, Thesis Submission, Grad Admin Support and Events, in their honor. The gathering brought together graduate coordinators, program managers and department support staff from across campus for a morning of gratitude, connection and celebration.

Graduate program administrators play a crucial role in shaping the student experience. They help applicants explore programs, manage essential processes such as registration and defense scheduling, answer questions big and small, and serve as trusted guides throughout every stage of graduate education. Their expertise, care and responsiveness ensure that Rice’s graduate students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally.

As Rice continues to grow its graduate community and launch new programs, the work of these administrators has never been more vital. The Thanksgiving brunch was a small but meaningful way to express gratitude for their tireless efforts, deep institutional knowledge and unwavering commitment to student success.

“The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies extends heartfelt appreciation to all graduate program administrators,” said Seiichi Matsuda, dean of the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. “These dedicated professionals help make Rice a welcoming, well-supported and academically vibrant home for graduate education.”
