Borbála Lovászi, Alumni Ambassador

Borbála is a Rice University and Fulbright alumna from Hungary. She spent one year at Rice University, earning a Master’s degree in Bioengineering as part of the 2025/26 cohort of the Global Medical Innovation program. Her academic background also includes Bachelor’s degrees in Bionics Engineering and Materials Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Materials and Manufacturing Technologies from Hungary. Borbála currently works as a Research Engineer in a clinical research group at the University of Szeged in Hungary, where she also worked before attending Rice. She has several years of experience in 3D bioprinting and the development of patient-specific medical devices using additive manufacturing technologies. She is fascinated by both the biology of the human body and the power of machines and technology. Borbála's ultimate goal is to help people by developing medical solutions that combine her passion for engineering with a commitment to improving human health. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and showing them how diverse and fascinating the world around us is. She has had the opportunity to teach and share her expertise in engineering and 3D (bio)printing with diverse audiences, including through university courses, professional workshops, and educational programs for children. What Borbála really loved about Rice University was the unique combination of academic excellence and a strong sense of community. Rice is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, while at the same time placing great emphasis on kindness, collaboration, and community. She is therefore happy to share my experiences and help anyone who is interested in studying at Rice or applying to the Fulbright program.
