Vienna is a second-year PhD student in the Bioengineering Department. Originally from California, she did her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, where she majored in Bioengineering and minored in Data Science. Currently, her research interests involve using CRISPR-based systems to engineer immune cells for improved cell therapies.

In her leisure, Vienna enjoys going on outdoor runs (especially at Hermann Park), trying new hobbies (she learned how to crochet this year), and exploring the diverse Houston food scene. She is a classical music aficionado (and wants to learn the cello one day!) and highly recommends attending Shepherd School of Music concerts. As a Thrive@Rice participant during her first year, Vienna loved getting to connect with other doctoral students outside of the Bioengineering Department; she is excited to continue building her community at Rice as a student leader for Thrive Beyond!
