Ahmad Elgazzar is a 5th-year PhD student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE), where he has been researching the electrification of chemical engineering. During his time at Rice, Ahmad served in multiple leadership positions, including the GSA Director of International Student Outreach. Outside of the lab, Ahmad enjoys watching and playing soccer!

Favorite thing about Rice:

The diversity of its student body! And the fact that Rice cares a lot about their graduate students :)

Favorite thing about Houston:

The incredible variety of restaurants!

Why did you decide to go to grad school?

Graduate school felt like the best environment to grow intellectually, develop my skills, and contribute meaningfully to my field. Also, the flexible working hours represented a big plus!
