Pronouns: he/him
I was born and raised in Daegu, South Korea, and earned my bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering at Kyungpook National University, followed by master's degrees at POSTECH and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I worked on electrochemistry and process modeling for water treatment. Along the way I became fascinated by how catalysis can solve real-world water challenges, which is what brought me to Rice. I'm currently a PhD student advised by Professor Michael Wong, where I study photocatalysis to break down PFAS.
Why I decided to go to grad school:
I wanted to personally contribute to research that helps solve real world water and sustainability challenges.
Fun fact about me:
I love cooking Korean dishes.
Favorite thing about Rice:
The people and the research environment. I'm surrounded by smart, kind people who genuinely want to help each other succeed.
Favorite thing about Houston:
The amazing variety of food and the diversity that makes it easy to find a taste of home.
