I am a fourth-year graduate student in the Environmental Engineering department at Rice. My work focuses on the use of catalysis to destroy emerging contaminants that are relevant in public water supplies. I have been a part of NEWT and the Rice Water Institute which have allowed me to focus on innovative solutions to the worldwide water crisis. This work is really important to me because water poses a challenge to every community in some way, communicating the science we do can raise awareness and improve public perception of water technology innovation.

I was raised in the suburbs of Chicago, and I have one younger sister. I attended Louisiana State University (geaux tigers!) for my B.S. in Chemical Engineering where I was exposed to research focused on water equity in developing nations. This really sparked my passion for research in the water sector, where Rice has a huge program to support this type of research. Since moving to Houston, I am confident in saying it is my favorite place I have ever lived, and I cherish living here now with my partner and our pet cat. In my free time I love to run, bike, cook, and explore the vast food and drink scene around town.

Fun Fact:

I have a pet cat named Louise!

Favorite thing about Rice:

Rice campus is so beautiful at all times of the year, there is so much natural diversity. I really cherish being able to explore and experience such a beautiful space everyday.

Favorite thing about Houston:

There is so much going on all of the time! Always new restaurants, sports games, concerts, art exhibits, and happy people excited to be experiencing the city.

Why did you decide to go to grad school?

To continue pursuing hard questions that matter to society!
