Furqan is a 4th year PhD student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
Furqan spent most of his life in Lahore, Pakistan. He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Lahore University of Management Sciences in 2017. As an undergraduate, he found interest in how complex real-world systems - for example for communication and imaging - are built on the mathematical formulations taught in courses such as signals and systems. This lead him to research in the design and implementation of a discrete time modem for asynchronous and non-orthogonal communication, as well as an air-ground wireless channel emulator.
Furqan joined Rice University as a graduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the Fall of 2018, joining the Rice Networks Group (http://networks.rice.edu/). He is currently working on proof-of-concept THz wireless communication between two leaky-wave antenna equipped devices.
Feel free to drop me an email at ma95@rice.edu if you have any questions about the ECE program, about Rice or life in Houston in general!
