Doctoral applicants worldwide can request a waiver for the Rice application fee between Oct. 14 and Nov. 1. No code is needed, and one request covers multiple doctoral programs.
How it works
The waiver window is short, and the waiver only holds if your application is in on time.

Submit your application by Nov. 27, 10:59 p.m. CST, or your program’s deadline if it’s earlier.
Step 3
Wait
for your waiver to be approved and applied. It can take up to 48 hours to show on your submitted application.
What to know before you request
Who can request one
Doctoral applicants worldwide. A 3.0 GPA or the equivalent is required.
No code needed
The waiver attaches to the email address on your application, so apply with the same address you use to request it.
One request, multiple programs
A single request covers every doctoral program you apply to at Rice.
Your application still has to be in on time
Submit your completed doctoral application by Nov. 27, 10:59 p.m. CST, or your program’s deadline if it’s earlier, for the waiver to hold.
Good to know
Waivers are issued until they run out, so request yours early in the window. They are not available for master’s programs or for programs in the Jones School of Business.
