Previous Institution: Tec de Monterrey

Pronouns: he/him

I am originally from Monterrey, México, where I got my B.S. in Chemistry from Tec de Monterrey. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Halas Lab at Rice University. I work on chemical detection of environmental contaminants using spectroscopy enhanced by specially designed metal nanostructures. Besides research, I am also an active member of several student associations, such as the Chemistry Graduate Student Association (CGSA), the Latin American Graduate Student Association (LAGSA), and Facilitating Advances in Chemistry for Equity and Transparency for Scholars (FACETS). In my spare time, I enjoy playing videogames, watching movies, swimming, and trying new restaurants!

Favorite thing about Rice:

The diversity!

Favorite thing about Houston:

The food!

Why did you decide to go to grad school?

I wanted to pursue academic research and become an independent scientist, and also to expand my career opportunities.
