Asahi is a PhD student in political science with a focus on comparative politics. She is passionate about the political representation of persons with disabilities, and her research interest is political behavior, especially of persons with disabilities. Before coming to Rice, she received a master's degree from the University of Leeds (UK) and a bachelor's degree from Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan).

Why I decided to go to grad school:

I wanted to write a paper that other political scientists would consider interesting!

Fun fact about me:

My childhood dream was to be a clown in Cirque du Soleil.
