Devesh is originally from Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his bachelor's at Delhi University, India. Afterward, he moved on to pursue his Masters in the field of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He worked with Prof. Anoop Ayyappan on the computational exploration of relevant prebiotic reactions.
During his Master's, while gaining relevant experiences in the field through internships and introspection of what he wanted to do in his life, he decided to pursue PhD from abroad, which landed him at Rice University.
He believes that the Universe is Mysterious and Mystical at the same time, and science still needs to capture the whole essence of it. In his opinion, Quantum Mechanics is the closest branch that can help to answer these questions. Although the work is highly abstract. He would like to delve deep into the bizarre mathematics and develop an intuitive understanding of the subject. Therefore, he joined Prof. James Shee, who is currently working on electronic structure theory development for strongly correlated chemical systems here at Rice University.
