Randi supports graduate students applying to external fellowships. As part of this effort, she administers GPS’ Fellowship Coaching Program, discusses proposal writing with small groups and individual graduate students, and coordinates nomination processes. She strives to demystify application writing and especially enjoys working with students to help them develop compelling personal statements. She also looks forward to celebrating our students’ and postdocs’ tremendous fellowship success each year at Take the Cake!

Randi is also a passionate advocate for Rice postdocs. She serves as Convener of the Rice Academy of Postdoctoral Fellows and GPS’ liaison to the Rice Postdoctoral Association, and she spearheads our annual Postdoc Appreciation Week.

Her work with postdocs and graduate students often includes implementing professional development and career exploration resources and programming.

Randi earned her Ph.D. in English from Rice and joined the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in 2023. She loves chatting about sci-fi movies or exchanging recommendations for state parks and other stunning natural areas to explore in Texas.
