University: The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

Hello! I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), a region consisting of a cluster of cities at the southernmost tip of the Texas-Mexico border. I got my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas - RGV, where I worked on manufacturing and testing the biocompatibility of nanofiber meshes for hernia repair. After graduating from UTRGV, I started my PhD in Bioengineering here at Rice University. Here, I work in the lab of Dr. Jane Grande-Allen, developing biomimetic systems to better recapitulate the microenvironment of the small intestine.

Fun fact about me:

I like to work on embroidery.

Favorite thing about Rice:

The old buildings and the trees!

Favorite thing about Houston:

The diversity (in people and in food options)
