What are you studying: Ph.D in Finance
My name is Mert, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Finance at Rice University. With a strong focus on empirical finance, my research interests revolve around this exciting field. Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, I embarked on my academic journey at Johns Hopkins University, where I pursued a graduate degree in finance. Prior to that, I had the privilege of attending Koc University as a double major student in electronics engineering and economics, during which time I had the opportunity to serve as a student representative at both institutions.
In my leisure time, I find solace in engaging in sports activities and indulging in series marathons. As a devoted fan of basketball, I closely follow the Houston Rockets. Additionally, I have a penchant for exploring new places. Houston itself has captivated me with its vibrant atmosphere and being a part of the Rice community has enriched my life by introducing me to incredible friends. In essence, my academic journey thus far has been characterized by a relentless pursuit of academic excellence, constant personal growth, and an unwavering passion for expanding my knowledge.
