I grew up on the small Caribbean Island called Dominica, where I have had a lifelong fascination with understanding how things work and how I can utilize that knowledge for the betterment of society. This curiosity led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in chemistry. During my undergraduate education I was introduced to the various branches and subfields in chemistry, along with their associated career options. While I embraced it all, I quickly realized that graduate school was necessary to fully maximize my scientific skills and knowledge. Currently, I am a third year Material Science and Nanoengineering graduate student in the Tour lab. My research includes developing 2-D materials for applications in composites and PFAS destruction.

Why I decided to go to grad school:

To gain skills and knowledge that can help me to make a difference in the world. To build lasting connections.

Fun fact about me:

I grew up on an island but I cannot swim.

Favorite thing about Rice:

The warm, friendly, diverse people. The beautiful campus.

Favorite thing about Houston:

The food and the diverse culture.
